Technology is evolving at such a quick pace (but you knew that already), that it needs new words to more accurately express what the normal, day-to-day geek is feeling, or thinking, or currently geeking about, complete with twitter updates every 5-minutes or so.

This isn’t a be-all, end-all guide, but hopefully, you get to learn something new.

Infomania – The condition of lowered focus and / or concentration, because of the immediate attention given more to reading new emails, pm’s or text messages, resulting in a constantly distracted state.

Nerf – To make worse or weaken, usually in the context of video games. Say you play your favorite FPS, and you love your triple rocket launcher, by the next game patch, the developers may “nerf” that weapon by turning it into a double rocket launcher.

Kurg – Someone aggressive / annoying on the web. They will post anything just to get attention. How are they different from spammers? They may … answer queries directed at you, post on your friend’s walls on Facebook, or just generally send you nonsense private messages.

Password fatigue – The stress from remembering too many passwords for different accounts all over the internet, resulting in an annoyed phase when even the most obviously-used passwords may get forgotten.

Pod slurping – The Macquarie dictionary word of the year for 2007. It is the process of downloading or transferring of data to MP3 players or memory sticks from a computer.
