Even in dog land, there lies discrimination.
Mixed-breeds vs the pure breeds - although there should be no stand off or sides to cling to, admittedly we look to the one whose breeding we can distinguish.
Fortunately, there is a group that puts a high regard to mutts - and well deserved too.
Already riding a surge of unprecedented popularity, dogs of mixed or unknown heritage are getting another boost. Whether short-legged, spotted, curly-haired, barrel-chested, pointy-eared or snub-nosed — or a combination of all of them — multi-breed mongrels will be welcomed and extolled at a new registry and Web community launching this week at muttigrees.org.
The group’s goal is to increase the desirability of mixed-breeds which we know isn’t at an all time high (but getting there!) and eventually decrease puppy mills (and irresponsible breeders!).
And so fellow owners of mutts (I’ve had 2 in my life), and those who are thinking of adopting dogs, perhaps you shall let your lovely dog know about this, and register them on the site.
